Balayage

It’s about time I blogged about Balayage! I’ve had my hair died like this for about a year now and I’m still lovin’ it! Pretty much zero maintenance required. It’s perfect for those who want to go lighter but don’t want to be spending all their pennies on getting their roots done.

Also known as Ombre, the hairstyle is seriously popular with a number of celebs, Rachel Bilson, Drew Barrymore, Rumi Neely to name a few. It’s important to take care of your ends as they will dry out with bleach. I use Moroccan Oil to keep my ends hydrated, it’s expensive but will last you around 6 months. Use it after washing your hair while still damp, warm the oil in your hands and massage from the ends upwards but steer clear of your roots. A few weekends back we dyed the ends of  my girlfriends hair with blue food colouring! It only lasts a couple of days, it’s perfect for trying some colour without the commitment.
You’ll need some disposable gloves, a black towel to put around your shoulders and food colouring.
It’s easy peasy, just take the colouring and pour a couple of drops onto the ends of your fingers and pull through where desired. Make sure the ends are dry before removing the towel and DON’T let your hair get wet as the colour will run!
